I am getting errors can’t delete log file message. I’m trying to overwrite the same company file name. I assume that is the problem. Trying to find where the file is so I can rename it. QB Desktop Pro 2020.
The first thing you’ll need to do is remove a special character from the company file name in QuickBooks. This may be accomplished by:
20-minute total time
Solution 1: Delete the company file’s Special Characters.
Look for the file you want to rename, then right-click on it and select rename from the options that appear.
🔹 Give the file a new name and press enter; special characters such as /\<>!$. should be avoided when naming the file.
Solution 2: Don’t Overwrite an Existing File The approach is rather straightforward here. Try storing a backup copy of a file under a new name if you wish to restore it. This may be accomplished by ensuring that a file with the same name does not already exist when saving a business file. If this is the case, the application will replace the file you already have. If QuickBooks displays a notice similar to the one below, select “No”:
“The file name already exists on the disc; saving it will overwrite it.”
Solution 3: Restore and Fix Damaged Business Files Download and run QuickBooks File Doctor to repair company files If this is the case, your only option is to contact QuickBooks customer service. If you already know a QuickBooks Proadvisor, contact him directly; otherwise, contact askforaccounting.com.
Solution 4: Make a folder and copy the backup files into it.
If you wish to protect your data, you must first create a folder and then copy your backup file to it. This will aid in the storage of firm data on a different disc. You may now restore your data to the desired location.
If you follow all of the procedures above, you will be able to resolve the QuickBooks Restore Failed Can’t Remove Log File error and restore QuickBooks to a prior date. However, if you continue to have problems, you may contact us at our QuickBooks error help or chat with a proadvisor.
